Colorado Information Marketplace:
Data Host for This Weekend’s App Contest

DENVER, Colo.—More than 100 tech savvy programmers will be using the Governor’s Office of Information Technology’s (OIT) Colorado Information Marketplace (CIM) this weekend to compete for top prizes in the app challenge, Go Code Colorado.

CIM will be the key tool for programmers creating business-ready apps. CIM is a marketplace for data sharing across the state that allows for integration of information between government agencies. As with Go Code Colorado, CIM is an important piece of the puzzle that allows for innovation and citizen engagement with the public sector to leverage information for business enterprise and government transparency. 

Go Code Colorado’s app challenge begins this Friday, March 21 and runs through Sunday, March 23 at five locations across Colorado.The event is possible through a partnership between OIT, the Secretary of State’s Office, the Governor’s Office, the Office of Economic Development and International Trade and the Statewide Internet Portal Authority. More than 100 programmers will compete. Winners from each competition will advance to a final competition May 9, where the top three winners will be awarded $50,000 in prize money and become eligible for up to $250,000 each in grant funding from the Advanced Industries--Early Stage Company and Retention Program.

Challenge events for Go Code Colorado are being hosted in Denver, Boulder, Durango, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs.

About the Colorado Information Marketplace (CIM) 
  • It is a platform for data sharing across the state that encompasses data and information governance, the publishing of the information and the identity resolution of the information across any contributing entity. 
  • Supports data transparency and good government for all Colorado citizens based on the Governor’s Colorado Blueprint and builds a foundation for better decision making across the state. 
  • Allows for integration of information between government agencies.
  • Fosters innovation and engagement in the public sector.
