Colorado and Wyoming partner with Google on Government App ChallengeDENVER, Colo.—The Colorado Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) is inviting
developers to come to Denver to help solve some of our state’s toughest problems at the
Google GovDev Challenge. Colorado and Wyoming are teaming up with Google for this
24-hour live coding event on May 17 and 18. Google is hosting the app challenge, which is designed to get 300 top developers to come up
with unique solutions to achieve important goals in Colorado and Wyoming. Each winning
team will take home up to $5,000. OIT’s Google Service Delivery Manager, Brandon
Williams, says this is a chance to make a difference. “Don't just think or talk about
changing government, do it,” says Williams. “If you are a developer, this is your chance to
pitch in.” The event will be held at Galvanize at 1062 Delaware St. The actual challenges for the
competition will be announced at 9 a.m. MT on May 17. You can register and find more
about the event at www.govdevchallenge.com. Additional information can also be found via
the social networks of 9News Denver, which is the media sponsor of the challenge. Colorado Secretary of Technology and Chief Information Officer Kristin Russell says, “We’ve
had great success collaborating on these types of developer challenges. They are great
examples of increasing public engagement to help increase the efficiency, effectiveness and
elegancy of government. We are excited to see what great ideas come out of this
multi-state effort between Colorado and Wyoming.”
