Colorado’s Major Incident & Change Management Leader Wins Prestigious IT Award

DENVER, Colo.—The Colorado Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) is pleased to announce that IT Service Management Manager Rob Nessler has won the coveted Pink Elephant award for Practitioner of the Year. He was one of more than 10,000 IT professionals who submitted an application.

This international award is given to an individual who has shown commitment to best practices, continuous improvement, and quality principles in IT service management. Nessler and his team have instituted processes in the last year that have drastically decreased change failure rates across state agencies. At the same time, Nessler’s team has helped facilitate faster major incident resolution times for OIT’s agency customers.

Secretary of Technology and Chief Information Officer Suma Nallapati says, “Rob and his team have made amazing progress that has really impacted and improved the service we deliver to our agency customers. I am thrilled his efforts are being recognized on a national stage!”

Chief Technology Officer David McCurdy says, “In my twenty years of IT, this is the most effective implementation of major ITIL processes I have seen. It has reduced outages by 30%. The major incident management process has reduced resolution times by 50% across the state.”

Nessler says, “It has been a wonderful journey to see our change failure rates go down so dramatically due to the creation of cutting-edge crisis communication tactics and adoption of our major incident and change management process.”

Nessler received his award this week at Pink16, Pink Elephant’s 20th Annual International IT Service Management Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas.
