COLORADO TECHNOLOGY OFFICE ANNOUNCES SEARCH FOR EXECUTIVE VISIONARIES

DENVER The Colorado Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) announced today its search for the next Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) to run, support, and transform the technology landscape in Colorado. Under the direction of Governor Jared Polis, the state is embarking on bold initiatives in emerging technologies, blockchain innovation, and providing virtual access anytime and anywhere while delivering customer delight. The new executive visionaries will build on these efforts and take state IT to the next level.

“These critical roles of CTO and CSO provide an opportunity for passionate leaders to combine their love of technology with meaningful public service to shape the future of Colorado’s technology ecosystem,” said OIT Chief Information Officer and Executive Director Theresa Szczurek, Ph.D., to whom these positions will report.

The technology and strategy officers will support and serve Colorado residents through a broad range of IT initiatives. The CTO will focus on system upgrades, infrastructure modernization, state data center consolidation, and continuing the state's cloud and mobile first strategies. The newly created Chief Strategy Officer position will continue to embrace OIT’s forward-looking DNA by using agile methodologies, DevSecOps, diffusion of innovation, Lean, and other process improvement approaches to efficiently and effectively deliver products and services that exceed customer needs.

In addition to its digital transformation efforts, the state’s IT office is charged with keeping systems operating, information flowing, applications running, securely for both executive branch agencies and Colorado residents. This includes supporting more than 1,100 applications and serving more than 31,000 state employees in 1,300 locations across Colorado.

The technology and strategy officers lead the legacy OIT has built over the last 10 years, and together, they will determine where State of Colorado technology needs to go and how to get there.
