Geographic Information Systems (GIS)


"Nearly every public sector business activity and decision has a location or spatial aspect...Given Geospatial resources are so important, and touch so many areas of government that they must be managed as an enterprise resource within the greater scope of enterprise architecture." (National Association of State Chief Information Officers [NASCIO], 2008

Senate Bill 08-155 codified the importance of GIS, and it charged OIT with GIS coordination. GIS was the only IT application area explicitly called out by the bill.
