Senate Bill 08-155 codified the importance of GIS, and it charged OIT with GIS coordination. GIS was the only IT application area explicitly called out by the bill.
GIS News: 2015 GIS Data Coordination Summit
The GIS Data Coordination Summit, organized by OIT, attracted more than 80 representatives of GIS programs at state and county levels.
The folks who attended helped identify the need for GIS data in key areas like parcels, transportation, address points, and structures.
